Privacy policy
Sjekkbok collects no personal data. There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you record stays on your own device.
Who is behind the app
Sjekkbok is developed and published by Bjerkestrand Utvikling, org. no. 838460682, proprietor Bjørnar Bjerkestrand, registered in Norway. Privacy enquiries go to support@byggjournal.com.
What you record
Projects, checklists, statuses, comments, deviations and changes, signatures, the company's name and logo, and the QA procedures are stored in a database inside the app's own storage area on the device. Photos and attachments are stored as files in the same place.
None of this is transmitted to the publisher, and none of it is shared with third parties. The publisher has no technical means of reading, retrieving or restoring the content, because it never leaves the device unless you share it yourself.
A project can hold information about other people, such as the customer's name, address, phone number and email. You or your company decide what is recorded and who documents are sent to, and are responsible for that processing.
Nothing goes over the network on its own
The app fetches nothing from the internet and sends nothing on its own. Its only contact with anything outside the phone is Apple's purchase system, which the app asks whether the subscription is active. The links to the terms and the privacy policy open in the browser when you tap them.
The app does not ask for location and does not use it.
Camera and photos
The app asks for access to the camera and photo library only when you choose to take or add a photo. The image is copied into the app's own storage and stays there. It is not uploaded anywhere.
Each photo is saved again from the image itself. The information an image file usually carries — where and when it was taken, and with which phone — is not kept. Share a photo or a report, and no location travels with the images.
Sending to the client
When you send a notice or a change notification, the app opens the phone's mail or messages app with the text and the PDF filled in. The message goes from your own email account or your own phone number, and you are the one who taps Send. The app sends nothing itself and does not see the content of your email or messages.
Files you import
Checklists you import from Excel, Word, CSV or text are read on the phone. The file you choose is a copy, and the original is left untouched. QA procedures you add as a PDF are stored in the app as they are.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email address or account details for the publisher — there is no sign-in
- No usage statistics, tracking or analytics
- No third-party crash reporting
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, and no data shared across apps or companies
- No location
- No contacts
Sharing and backup
The app produces PDFs of the project report, of single checklists, of notices and change notifications and of the QA procedures, and a full backup as a single ZIP file. Everything goes through the iOS share sheet or the mail and messages apps, so you choose where it ends up. Nothing is sent anywhere automatically.
If you send a file on, upload it to a project archive or store it in a cloud service, the terms and privacy practices of the service you chose apply. From that point the file is outside the app's control.
iCloud backup
If you have iCloud Backup enabled, the app's content may be included in that backup, in the same way as the content of other apps. That copy sits in your own iCloud account with Apple, not with the publisher. Apple's terms govern that processing, and you control it yourself in Settings.
App Store purchases
The subscription is bought, renewed and cancelled with Apple. The app asks Apple's purchase system on the device whether the subscription is active, and uses the answer only to decide whether changes are open. No information about the purchase is sent to the publisher or to any third party.
Purchases and downloads are handled by Apple. The publisher receives payment and sales figures from Apple in aggregate form, without information identifying individual buyers. If you have chosen to share usage and crash data with developers in your iOS settings, the publisher receives that from Apple as anonymised, aggregated statistics. You can turn it off under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no visitor analytics and no content loaded from other sites. The provider hosting the server keeps ordinary technical traffic logs, including IP address and timestamp. Those logs are used for operation and security, not to follow individual visitors.
Your rights
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to access, rectification, erasure and data portability. Because the publisher holds no information about you, you exercise those rights directly in the app: you see all the content there, you correct it, and you take it out as PDF or as a ZIP file.
The app does not delete individual records — points, photos, deviations and lists are taken out of view but kept, so the documentation stays traceable. To remove everything, delete the app from the device. The database and the photos are deleted with it.
If you nevertheless believe your privacy has not been respected, contact the publisher at support@byggjournal.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, or with the supervisory authority in your own country.
Children
The app is built for professional use and is not directed at children. It collects no information about any user in any case.
Changes
If the way the app handles data changes, this policy is updated before the change takes effect, and the date above is set to the new one. Earlier versions are available on request.
In short: what you record never leaves the phone unless you share it yourself.
