Common questions
What does the app cost?
NOK 199 a month or NOK 1,899 a year, with 14 days free the first time you subscribe. The subscription is bought and managed through the App Store.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Trejournal. You can also go to "Subscription and purchases" at the bottom of the tree list in the app and tap "Manage subscription". Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid renewal. You keep access for the rest of the period you have paid for.
What happens to my register when the subscription ends?
Nothing is deleted or locked. You can still open and read everything, export it, back it up and delete it. What you cannot do is record new trees or change what is recorded until you subscribe again.
I have paid, but the app says I have no subscription
Go to "Subscription and purchases" at the bottom of the tree list and tap "Restore purchases". Make sure you are signed in with the Apple ID you bought with. The bottom of that page shows what the app sees — if that does not help, email us that line.
Where is my data stored?
Locally on your device, in the app's own storage. It is not sent to a server, and neither the developer nor anyone else can reach it.
How do I get my data out of the app?
Use the export function. You choose what to export and get a file you can share, archive or save to Files, iCloud Drive or anywhere else you pick.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because everything is local, your data exists only where you put it. If your device is included in iCloud Backup, the app's content is part of that backup and returns when you restore to a new device. If you have backup switched off, your exports are your only copy — take them regularly.
Can I move my data to a new iPhone?
Yes. Restore the new device from backup, or export from the old device and import on the new one.
How do I delete everything?
You delete tree by tree in the app. To remove everything at once, delete the app from your device — the database and the photos go with it. There is no copy held by the publisher to request deletion of.
Which export formats are there?
Six: a PDF per tree, a Word package per tree as a .zip with text and images as separate files, an Excel file and a CSV with one row per record, GeoJSON for GIS software, and a full backup as a .zip. All of them go through the share sheet, so you choose where the file ends up.
Does the map work without a connection?
Recording, photos and export all work offline. The map background is fetched over the network, so with no connection you will not get new tiles — though areas you looked at recently are often still in memory. GPS position works regardless, including with no mobile network.
Can I import a backup from a colleague?
Yes. Import only adds: what is already in the app is left untouched. If the file was made in a newer version of the app than yours, the app says so rather than importing halfway.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. There is no sign-in, and the app works without coverage. That is the point when the survey happens at a woodland edge, on a slope, or anywhere else the mobile network does not reach.
Does the app replace professional judgement?
No. It records what you enter and assembles it into a document. It does not assess the content or draw conclusions on your behalf. Responsibility for the professional content is yours.
